Rosebelly lizard, Sceloporus variabilis, (also known as rose-bellied lizard or rose-bellied swift) Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica. This is a species of spiny lizard (Sceloporus genus) belonging to the family: Phrynosomatinae. They are found throughout much of North and Central America. Three subspecies are recognised. As this individual was photographed in Costa Rica it is probably the S. v. olloporus subspecies (first described by Hobart Muir Smith in 1937).
